You can either cook your dish without using those ingredients or make them at home. There are certain quick techniques whereby you can make these quick fix tastes that are exactly like the standard store bought ingredients.

Today, we talk about how to make Sour Cream at home. A lot of cookies and cakes require sour cream. It is very easy to make at home.


  • Milk- ¼ cup
  • Distilled white Vinegar- ¾ tea spoon
  • Heavy Cream- 1 cup

If in case you do not have milk or vinegar or both, you can use buttermilk instead of the vinegar and milk mixture.

  • Buttermilk- ¼ cup.

Preparation Time:

You need around ten minutes to prepare it. However, it will be ready in 1 day.


Step 1

Take a pot and pour milk in it. Add vinegar to it. Combine both and keep it aside for ten minutes.

Step 2

After ten minutes are over, pour this heavy cream in the jar.

Step 3

Add the milk and vinegar mixture to the jar of heavy cream and stir well.

Step 4

Cover the jar properly and let it stand for 24 hours. Make sure that the jar is kept at room temperature.

Step 5

The sour cream is ready. You need to just chill it now before using it.

So, from now on if you have a great urge of making cupcakes or cookies and you do not have sour cream at home,  you can easily make it this way.
